Sally Griffith Cimini

Sally Griffith Cimini:
Mediator/Arbitrator
 
Sally Griffith Cimini has been involved in the resoluation of employment disputes for more than 25 years, first as a human resources professional, then as an employment attorney, and most recently as a professional employment relationship, from hiring through termination. Her employment dispute experience includes employment discrimination, workplace harassment, disability accommodation, Family & Medical Leave Act compliance, employee handbooks, human resource policies and practices, wage and hour issues, use of temporary/leases/contract employees, performance appraisals, workplace investigations, drug and alcohol testing, workplace privacy, disciplinary action and termination, reductions in force, employment at-will/wrongful discharge, employment agreements, restrictive covenants and confidentiality agreements, severance agreements and waivers and releases.
 
Ms. Cimini was trained in mediation at Harvard Law School. She also completed conflict resolution and mediation workshops at the Pittsburgh Mediation Center. Ms. Cimini has completed extensive advanced mediation courses in traditional mediation methods , and has also been trained in transformative mediation. Ms. Cimini has completed both the AAA Employment Arbitration I and II training programs, and serves as an employment dispute mediator and arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. In 2005, she was selected to serve as a panel mediator on the UPMC Intermediation Panel. She is also a member of the CHART mediation panel. She is an adjunct settlement judge, mediator, and early neutral evaluator for the US District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
 
Ms. Cimini’s career has focused on employment and labor matters prior to, while attending, and since graduating from law school. She worked as a Human Resources generalist while attending law school at night, and has worked as an employment attorney both in private practice and in-house since graduating from law school in 1986. She is currently the chairperson of the Employment and Labor Services Group and a shareholder in the Pittsburgh-based law firm Babst, Calland, Clements and Zomnir, P.C., where, in addition to working as a professional mediator/arbitrator in employment disputes, she also counsels clients in all aspects of the employment relationship.
 
Ms. Cimini is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. She has represented clients in litigation before state and federal district courts located in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana and New York. She also has litigated cases in the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second, Third, Fourth and Sixth Circuits. Ms. Cimini is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court.
 
Ms. Cimini is a member of the Association for Conflict Resolution, the Pennsylvania Council of Mediators, the Mediation Council of Western Pennsylvania (also Member, Board of Directors), and the Business Dispute Resolution Alliance. Ms. Cimini is also a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committees of the Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations. She also chairs an Employment Mediation Roundtable Discussion Group of Pittsburgh Mediators. Ms. Cimini has been certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources by the Human Resources Certification Institute. She is on the faculty of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute’s Employment Law Institute. Ms. Cimini is also a frequent lecturer in business, academic, and legal communities on employment, labor, human resource issues, and alternative dispute resolution.
