Session Description

"Mediation Strategies for the Contemporary Workplace"

The ability of human resources to effectively resolve organizational conflict has become a hallmark of its strategic functional excellence. Clearly, an emerging trend among major Fortune 500 companies has been to embrace mediation as a legitimate alternative to full blown litigation, particularly in the Title VII and EEO context. Consequently, human resource professionals skilled in the mediation process profoundly impact revenues to the bottom line by negotiating settlements which satisfactorily align with the Company’s strategic goals by avoiding costly and time consuming litigation.

This workshop will focus on the mediation process and the skills required for satisfactory business outcomes. It will equip attendees with knowledge of basic concepts of mediation, the role of the mediator and what to expect, different styles of mediation and practice pointers on how to use the process and the mediator to your best advantage. In addition, this workshop will provide guidance to the H.R. executive on how to prepare internally and work with counsel in the context of a mediated settlement conference.
