2009 PDM Honorees

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2009 PEOPLE DO MATTER AWARD WINNERS and NOMINEES!

Learning & Development Award:
Eat ’n Park Hospitality Group, Inc.,

This award recognizes a company who achieves exceptional employee performance through skills advancement, knowledge creation, and knowledge transfer. The winner, Eat ’n Park Hospitality Group, Inc., created a “Keeping it” program designed to utilize corporate culture to build personal relationships with new and current team members to keep them engaged, happy in their career, and focused. Over a three-year period, turnover for management trainees was reduced from 21% to just 12%, a 9% reduction. Overall management turnover during the same period was reduced from 37% to 25%, a 12% reduction. This retention leads to a decrease in recruiting and training costs and an increase in morale and positive guest experiences.

People Award:
IntegraCare Corporation

This award acknowledges an organization with strategies that enable recruiting excellence, retention of a high quality workforce, clear rewards, commitment to diversity, and a flexible workplace. The winner, IntegraCare Corporation, manages 10 Senior Living communities in Pennsylvania and Maryland with over 500 employees. One of their biggest challenges is retaining quality care staff on a limited budget. Because their industry is private-pay, tough economic times call for compensation package differentiation and a creative approach to employee recruitment and retention. IntegraCare implemented numerous programs and resources to attract and retain quality employees including an average 7.5% increase in wages. The results were an overall 4.5% increase in employee satisfaction which translated to a 5.5% increase in resident satisfaction. IntegraCare’s focus on their employees motivates them to provide quality care, to get to know the residents and to interact with their families. This creates an environment characterized by solid relationships and a sense of vitality resulting in satisfied residents and families.

Work Structure & Processes Award:
Alpen Rosenthal

This award honors a company who facilitates positive change, increases productivity, and creates value in the marketplace and for the company’s customers. Winner, Alpern Rosenthal, built a training process around The Predictive Index that was designed to improve internal communications and help managers customize the way they managed individual employees, maximizing employee retention and recruitment. One of Alpern Rosenthal’s goals is to be the “first choice” to work for among CPA firms in the Pittsburgh region. Alpern Rosenthal has found the enhanced communication to be a key element in maintaining high employee morale through these difficult economic times.
