Jacques M. Wood, Jacques has been a Commissioner with the Federal Mediation & Conciliation Service (FMCS) since 2000. In this capacity, he has mediated over 300 labor, employment and commercial cases. The employment cases involved claims discrimination based on age, disability, national origin ,race , religion, sexual harassment, sexual orientation , as well as employment-at-will, whistle blower, breach of non-compete, and retaliation violations.
Prior to his appointment at the FMCS, Jacques was a Partner and Chair of the Labor & Employment Group of the Pittsburgh law firm of Buchanan Ingersoll, PC from 1988 through 2000. From 1979 through 1988 Commissioner Wood was a Partner and Chair of the Labor & Employment Group of Berkman, Russlander, Pohl, Leiber, & Engel. . He has been listed in five editions of The Best Lawyers in America and included in Who’s Who in American Law. Throughout his legal career , Jacque negotiated over 250 collective bargaining agreements.
For over ten years, Jacques was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law where he taught courses in collective bargaining, labor law and labor arbitration. His publication credits include acting as Editor –in-Chief of the publication HOW TO HIRE RIGHT,FIRE RIGHT:MANAGING WITHIN THE LAW (M.Lee Smith,1997) and was contributing editor of Discipline and Discharge (BNA Books,1998).
Jacques received his J.D. from Cornell University School of Law in 1973 and graduated in 1970 with a B.S. in Labor Relations from Cornell University. He is a member of the American Bar Association and Pennsylvania Bar Association.
