Auberle helps troubled children and families heal themselves. The challenge in this mission occurs daily. From residential services to foster programs and alternative education, the men and women of Auberle deal with tough behavioral issues on a day-to-day basis. In order to deal with these challenges, Auberle employees are grounded in a set of Core Values, which help to guide them in decision making and behavioral choices. Auberle’s competitive advantage comes down to its people and how they interact with the children and families. The values provide direction to ensure everyone is driving toward the mission. In this way, the values become a strategic tool to assist with growth.
Auberle has taken proactive steps to integrate values within the organization’s culture. Each day, care specialists, counselors, behavioral specialists and other professionals demonstrate the core values which include: Mission Commitment, Performance Driven, Supportive Work Environment, Employee Empowerment, Creativity & Innovation, and Customer Focused & Responsive. “Living the Auberle Values” starts by institutionalizing the values. By integrating the values into the culture, the values become real. In the process, the organization’s Mission Advantage gains further clarity. Mission Advantage is the ability of an organization to significantly move forward on its mission, such that it becomes a source of competitive advantage in the marketplace. From day one at orientation, the CEO discusses the values and their importance to the organization’s mission. Also, the Daily Memo, which goes to all employees, has a section on “Living the Auberle Values”.
Auberle can measure how well it is doing toward bringing the values to life in a number of ways. These include the Performance Management System, 360-Degree Feedback System, Daily Memo and Employee of the Month. The values are integral to these strategic systems and by gaining feedback from them, Auberle can determine how well the values are being lived.
“Living the Auberle Values” is seen through the eyes and hearts of those who practice them everyday. Everyday close to 200 people come through the doors of Auberle to contribute their time and talent to the mission. Auberle is a part of who they are and what they believe in. Employee engagement scores are off the charts. People stay 20+ years. People form strong bonds with their coworkers. The team-oriented atmosphere helps get the job done, which is helping troubled children and families heal themselves. Underlying all of this solid work are the values. The values serve as a guide post for Auberle employees to continue their great work with children and families while collectively furthering the mission of the organization.
