Communications Policy

Web Site Posting Policy
1) Posted information must meet the following criteria as determined by the Communications Director:
· Promote the development of Human Resource Professionals in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania region;
· Provide a forum for sharing information in the area of Human Resources;
· Promote and encourage diversity of individuals and organizations represented within the membership.
2) Announcement/promotion of services or events that meet the above criteria will be posted on the Community Events or Newsroom.
3) There is not a fee associated with posting on the Community pages for PHRA members and SHRM chapters.
4) The posted announcement will be promoted for up to one month on the Community Events or Newsroom page. Individuals/Groups must resubmit announcement if interested in additional months of inclusion. Individuals/Groups wishing to post events must submit the information online at http://www.pittsburghhra.org/dyncommunity_events.php.
5) Groups looking for further exposure should consider PHRA’s other advertising options as outlined in the Perspectives, Web and E-Newsletter Ad Rate Cards found on the PHRA website at http://www.pittsburghhra.org/30.php.
Career Bank Page
1) The Career Bank page on the PHRA web site should be used exclusively for posting HR positions. It is not appropriate for job fairs or events similar in nature to be included on this page of the web site.
2) Nonmembers of PHRA pay a fee of $100 for each posting. A $50 fee is charged for PHRA members. All jobs are posted for a one month time period. The job posting will not become active until the balance is paid.
3) All job postings must be submitted online at http://www.pittsburghhra.org/23.php. The information will be posted as submitted (excluding name and email. Information entered into the Contact box will be the only contact information that seekers see). Corrections/updates can be made by contacting the PHRA office.
Weekly Update Publication Policy
1) Published information must meet the following criteria as determined by the Communications Director:
· Promote the development of Human Resource Professionals in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania region;
· Provide a forum for sharing information in the area of Human Resources;
· Promote and encourage diversity of individuals and organizations represented within the membership.
· Submitted by a non-profit organization, other SHRM chapter, and/or a PHRA partner
2) HR related events that meet the above criteria will be published for no more than 4 consecutive weeks, one month prior to the event.
3) The member or nonmember requesting the promotion of an HR related event must provide something of value to PHRA members in return for the use of the Weekly Update to promote the event. (For example: discounted registration fee, limited time promotional offers, etc.)
4) There is no fee to publish information that meets the above criteria.
Perspectives Publication Policy
1) Published information must meet the criteria set forth in the Editorial Guidelines as determined by the Communications Committee. More information about the Editorial Guidelines and Perspectives newsletter can be found on the PHRA website at http://www.pittsburghhra.org/31.php.
2) The aim of Perspectives is to ensure the human resources community is well informed about industry news, events and issues by providing:
· Timely and accurate reports on issues affecting PHRA members.
· News and information about the people who compose the organization.
· A forum for open discussion of PHRA affairs.
3) All articles/information submitted for inclusion are reviewed by the Editor, who reports to the Communications Chair, who reports to the PHRA president. Assignment of articles, editing of copy selection and placement of stories in the newsletter are the responsibilities of the editor.
The decision to publish articles is based on whether the information serves the interest of the readers. The editor makes every effort to ensure balance within the limitations imposed by the availability of space.
PHRA welcomes any news, story ideas, letters or ads from PHRA members. Perspectives editorial staff may edit copy from contributors to conform to PHRA style. Other changes (e.g. ones that make the story more easily understood to a general audience and to avoid jargon) will be made, where possible, in consultation with the contributor.
5) Submissions are restricted to PHRA members only. Non-members wishing to submit content will be evaluated based on content and availability of space. Please note that PHRA will not accept any articles with a focus on self-promotion or sales.
6) Space reservation for articles and for display ads is due the first of the month prior to publication. If there is a Holiday/Weekend involved with the first, it moves to the next business day.
