HR “Department of 1” is responsible for so much more than just hiring and firing, and the solo HR practitioner is often pulled in so many directions that it's hard to keep up with changing priorities in the profession.


In this training session, you'll get the tools you need not only to survive, but also excel as a HR “Department of 1”. Whether you're new to the job or have a few years under your belt, this course is a resource that will give you the credibility and the confidence you need to be more effective in your role.  


This workshop will contain a handbook segment.  Please submit any handbook policy related questions to by June 9th.

About the Presenters:

Tiffany A. Jenca counsels employers on a wide range of issues arising under both federal and state law. She routinely conducts internal investigations, provides staff and managerial training, advises on day-to-day employment decisions, and drafts resources tailored to specific business needs, such as handbooks, restrictive covenant agreements, separation agreements, and bonus plans. Tiffany also represents employers in administrative proceedings, alternative dispute resolution, and state and federal litigation. She is experienced in restrictive covenant litigation and defends employers against various common law and statutory discrimination, retaliation, wage and compensation claims.



Mariah Passarelli focuses her practice on a variety of employment law and higher education matters. She has represented employers in claims arising under the full panoply of applicable federal and state laws, in both single-plaintiff and class/collective action litigation. Mariah also counsels’ companies, colleges and universities on litigation avoidance, anti-discrimination/harassment, workplace violence, and anti-bullying. This counseling work includes drafting/revising handbooks and extensive employee training.
