To be eligible for the student rate, you must be a full-time student enrolled in an HR or Labor Relations program at a college or university AND/OR you are a SHRM student chapter member. Part-time graduate students working full-time are not eligible for the student rate.

 

Presentation Summary

Retirees and Employees 65 and older can sign up for Medicare, but then what?   “The A, B, C’s (& D) of Medicare” will serve as a Medicare 101 talk for Human Resource professionals looking to support employees who are turning 65 and still working or looking into retirement.  This session will review what to consider when looking at the best time to enroll in Medicare A & B through the federal government, as well as enrollment dates to avoid lifetime penalties.  After an employee decides to enroll in Medicare A & B, they need to be educated on the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medigap plans and what these plans cover.    This session will walk attendees through the components of Medicare and the process to enroll so that they may be a guide for employees and retirees as they attempt to navigate Medicare.

 

Liz Hagan Kanche is an independent insurance broker who specializes in Medicare.  Liz began her professional career in Erie, PA working at Hamot Medical Center, now part of the UPMC Hospital network.  She was recruited back to Pittsburgh in 2002 to begin what is now Pathways Wellness Program.  Through her work with American HealthCare Group, Liz started her Medicare business in 2012 to serve clients in affordable housing.  Since then, she has expanded her Medicare support to her Wellness clients - both retirees and employees turning 65.  She is thoroughly versed in all components of Medicare – both through federal government and private insurance companies.  Liz is referred by many local insurance brokers to help educate Human Resource professionals on how best to communicate the Medicare process to employees and retirees.
